Holiday Party – 2017

It’s doubtful that visions of sugarplums were dancing in the drivers’ heads, as DVC’s heartiest enthusiasts white-knuckled their rides through a winter wonderland to the historic Plumsteadville Inn.

Forty-two members arrived in time for cocktail hour, festively adorned in fancier than usual dress, colorful for the occasion, and one member surprised everyone by showing up.

Barry Williams (a DVC founding father), who had failed to arrive a few years in the past, appeared and actually on time. Rumor has it that due to “faulty directions”, stupid EST errant time changes, and other assorted excellent reasons, Barry has failed to make it or was an hour late. Luckily, Barry’s son Mike took the wheel this time and delivered his dad into the clutches of taunting members who were reveling during happy hour.

Dinner was served in fashion, featuring tasty choices of fish, red meat, salads and desserts followed by a memorable rendition of the Tom and Dick show (also known as the famous DVC raffle) but by different MCs. Curtis Yocum and Peter Yaskowski took the floor and did a fabulous job of entertaining everyone. Apparently, Curtis missed his calling in life and should have been a stand-up comedian. He and Peter had the audience laughing throughout the presentation with descriptions of the prizes as they were being presented. The final raffle win was a surprise bag containing useful items such as a pregnancy test for Suzi Gill and a much-appreciated bottle of Scotch for Graham Gill to consume while awaiting the results. Terri Tiley is to thank for acquiring all the terrific prizes!
