Triathlon IX Announced!
Dr. DVC Visits Bill Webb
September 16, 2010
Doctors D.R. Schwab, Dr. John Hunt, Dr. Bill McCurdie went into Bill Webb’s garage with trepidation and lots of good faith. With the latest technical knowledge available, we went with the oldest medical technique and BLED the Patient!!!!!! It was successful and the patient was driven around the block for the furthest distance in 10 years and returned to the garage on it’s own power. Mr Webb could not stop smiling and may be smiling as of this weekend! Beware using the latest trends in medical programs, especially Government run plans!!! Bleeding the patient may be just the best thing! Plenty of alcohol for disinfectant didn’t hurt either!
Hornsby Rallye 2010
Sunday, September 12, 2010
With a little preview of fall weather in the air, 16 cars assembled in the parking lot of the Walmart in Harleysville. After the usual filling out of the paperwork and a lot of chatting, off we went… one after another at 5 minute intervals for a lovely hour-long drive through the Upper Perkiomen Valley then down into Limerick and finally into Royersford. As we gathered at our goal for some lunch, we learned the tally of the rallye.
Of the 16 cars that started, 15 of us made it to the finish line. (Suffredini’s unfortunately had to divert off and could not join us at the end.) The prize winners for 2010 were…
Hornsby Trophy Winner – Jerry & Lee Keller
1st place – Lew Phillips
2nd place – Pat & Patti Cawthorne
3rd place – Paul & Evonna Phillips
Car Show Post Party – 2010
August 7, 2010
As we were about to enter into our 8th heatwave of the summer, how lucky we were to have such gorgeous weather for the Pennypacker Car Show and P3 party afterward! We had the best car show ever and best P3 ever. It was warm, bright sunshine, and low humidity. Weather does count, doesn’t it??
We had a record turnout for the P3 party – over 50 people showed up this year! See the list of attendees below (hopefully, I didn’t forget anyone). It was a beautiful afternoon to hang out, have a beer, and rest after all the work that goes into running the car show. Hank Rippert, all the way from Soddy Daisy, TN (yes, that is the name of the town), attended the festivities. Unfortunately, Pop was not with him this year…
We had a nice visit from Warren Greaves, a member of the DVC from many years ago. We talked him into renewing his membership, and buying a car badge and key fob. (Its so easy to get money off some people). Hopefully, we’ll see a lot more of him at future DVC events. It was also nice to see some other DVC’ers we haven’t seen for a while.
Of course, everyone brought delicious food to enjoy. One thing about the DVC, we eat and drink good! One of our newest members, Adam and Eva Ilnicki brought genuine Polish Kielbasa. Adam cooked it to perfection on the grill and everyone raved about it. Adam, I didn’t get any, so you’ll just have to do it all again…
Attendees were: Dick & Sandy Suffredini, Adam & Eva Ilnicki, Dave & Gloria Schwab, Donna Bristol, Walt King, Rob Hoeflein, Warren Greaves and friend, Jan & Mark Scherbekow, Wade Albright and Jill Roesch, Hank Rippert, Wolfgang Fischer, Bob & Doris Logan, Jim & Janet Taylor, Bill & Linda Boorse, Tom & Deven Maddaloni, Paul & Evonna Phillips, Bill and Ann McCurdie, Earl Wanklin, Ernie & Barb Feldgus, Jeff Rose, Lee & Sandra Wesner, Lew Phillips, Chuck & Judy Goelz, Pat & Carmita Alzamora, Warren & Nancy Doerner, Bill & Evelyn Webb, Lyn & Bobbi Hughes, Chuck & Linda Daniels, Chuck Denlinger, Bob Tiley, and Sue Dougherty. (Sorry if I missed anyone!)
Thanks to all who came to the P3 party. And a big thank you to the girls who helped me with food and cleanup!
See you at the Hornsby Rallye!

6th Annual DVC Car Show – 2010
Saturday, August, 7, 2010
One could not have asked for a more beautiful day than what the DVC was blessed with in hosting the 6th British Car Day Show at Pennypacker Mills. Low humidity for August and sunshine brought the largest crowd to date with over ninety cars and, according to the county site manager, around a thousand visitors.
The cars were not the only attraction as the site had its annual, “In the Good Old Summertime” consisting of games and music from the turn of the 20th century. Painters of the Norristown Artist Guild allowed one to look over their shoulders as they worked on scenes from various spots of the park.
This would not be possible without the tremendous efforts of the club volunteers, “The Pit Crew” and it was another job well done by them. From the registrations ladies handling the entrants to the dueling emcees, Lee Niner and Bill McCurdie, announcing the awards the show ran smoothly. If anyone would like to lend a hand for next year’s show please send an email to carshow@dvcmg.com. There will be a Crew meeting on 11/6/10 at 11 AM at Leddy’s Pub for the post show praises and gripes and how we can improve.
