April 25th – May 3, 2020
How to get there…
Travel at your convenience and make your own reservations but make sure that Earl knows your plans. You may arrive and leave at any time.
The easiest way to get here is to fly Spirit Air out of Philly. It’s a non-stop flight that takes about 75 minutes in the air. All major car rentals are available at the airport. As you leave the airport you will turn right on to Harrelson Blvd. At RT 17 Business (Kings HWY) turn right and it’s about 10 miles to Surfside Beach. Myrtle Beach Airport code is MYR.
Driving from the Philly area in your MG! You could make it a two day trip (~11 hrs) and travel South through Delaware and cross the Bay Bridge Tunnel. Pick a motel in Delaware or in Norfork area as the first night stop. From their follow RT 17 South and follow to Surfside Beach, SC. For the return trip north just put it in reverse and follow your trail back.
For those in a rush but want a little bit of a nice drive… Take I-95 South to NC exit 13A Lumberton (about 35 miles past Fayetteville), then travel to RT 410 South. Take a right turn and stay on RT 410 to Tabor City. Follow RT 701 South to SC RT 9 then turn Left. Follow RT 9 to RT 31 South. RT 31 ends and you’ll take RT 707 South. At the second light, turn Left onto Holmestown RD which will turn into Glenns Bay RD. At RT 17 Business turn Left and the Quality Inn is ¼ mile on your Right. (~10 hrs)
For those in a rush and want to take main highways… Take I-95 South to I-40 East. This goes to Willington NC but before you get to Willington, take RT 140 and follow it to RT 17 South. Stay on RT 17 South and cross the North/South line. In 10 miles go onto RT 9 and then follow to RT 31 South. RT 31 ends and you’ll take RT 707 South. At the second light, turn Left onto Holmestown RD which will turn into Glenns Bay RD. At RT 17 Business turn Left and the Quality Inn is ¼ mile on your Right. (~10 hrs)
