THE GREAT PUMPKIN TOUR 2010

October 16, 2010

Twenty-six DVCers gathered at noon in the home of Dick & Sandy Suffredini in Richboro for the start of the Great Pumpkin Tour, a casual fun rallye that took us on a rambling route through the lovely Bucks County’s countryside. As usual, Dick’s Tour directions and maps were simply excellent. There were 6 TDs, a TF, an MGA, and 4 MGBs out having a great time navigating the back roads that were made just for MGs.

The Tour route included several stops…. The Solly Brothers Farm Market for pumpkins and pies; the Carousel Gardens for more pumpkins, lunch, and antiques; the Solbury Orchards for delicious apple cider and…pumpkins! And finally, the Cuttalosa Farm which specializes in miniature sheep. Later in the afternoon, the Tour brought us all back to the Suffredini’s where we all enjoyed a variety of hors d’oeuvres, hoagies, potato salad, covered dishes, and desserts.

Full of all sorts of good food and treats, it was time to carve the pumpkins most of us had picked up at one place or another on the tour. Some attacked the work with just a spoon and a knife, but many had brought specialized pumpkin-carving tools which made the job a lot easier and resulted in some outstanding and unusual designs.  The accompanying photos, taken by our host Dick Suffredini, tell the tale. In the end all were deemed to be so creative that nobody could decide which was best, so it was declared a tie and we were all declared to be winners!!

Participating in the fun were: Donna Bristol and Walt King; Wolfgang and Gudie Fischer (TD); Chuck and Judy Goelz (MGA); Adam and Eva Ilnicki (MGB); Mike and Karen Kearns (TF); Jerry and Lee Keller (TD); Lew Phillips (MGB); Tom and Jaimee Rippert (MGB); Jim and Diane Sanders (TD); Sam Senior (MGB); Greg and Janice Lake ((TD); Louise Story; Dick and Sandy Suffredini (TD); Earl Wanklin; and Bob Tiley (TD).

Many thanks to our wonderful hosts, Dick and Sandy Suffredini, for welcoming us to their lovely home and providing such a great tour and party.
